Sports journalism is the happiest way of making a living that mankind has invented so far.

I put this lovely remark at the very beginning because this is all my impetus for all kinds of sports volunteer I ever was, two important internships for the big-name sports media in China–CCTV5 and Xinhua News Agency and even my choice of studying in London.

Why I love sports?

I ask myself.

To impress the boys? To have an excuse for screen-time? To appreciate fine figures?

Maybe neither.

Tears of excitement for a thrilling reverse, a big smile for a hard-won victory, even the miserable look after a series of mistakes and enjoyable appearance for both competitors.

I love sports because all of those moments are so real and so moving for me. I can’t explain the exact biologic reasons but sports are just like Harry Potter’s magic deeply attracting me.

I love sports because it is clear. It always has the rules to measure which side is better. There is no so many perplexed grey zone in a real society where sometimes you may lose your orientation.

I love sports because it is short. Any game has the final which means goodbye and all transitory things seems to be amazing like the firework and deserve to be cherished like people’s life.

Why I have dreamed to be a sports journalist?

To watch games for free? To have a decent job? To travel all over the world？

Maybe all of them.

I want to deliver inspiring stories and spirts to the public. Those encouraging voice I heard from sports should be told to the people who need them.

I want to chat with the audience about what I witnessed behind screens, like off-court stories. Although technology is anywhere we human beings are always the judges.

Actually, maybe the real answer is only happiness.

I want to be happy. I want to have a happy job just as Rhett Smith did.

I want to be happy because life is short.
