“Who Moved My Racket?”

I ever read a book Who Moved My Cheese? Guess what? My story of badminton reminds of it. So today, the protagonist is not me but my badminton racket.

Hello everyone! Ready to listen to me and my master’s stories? To be honest it is a little funny and annoying at first.

I travelled with my master Sunnie to London two months ago. But in this period, I am so lonely because the badminton court is hard to find in Harrow, London. And it seems Londoners don’t like playing badminton so much. As a newcomer, I have few friends who share common interests. What a pity! Even worse, those staff working in the Student Union of university never reply to my inquiries of the badminton team and only ended all my fantasy by telling me the decision that they cancelled badminton this year. My goodness! Who Moved My Racket and ruined my dream in badminton?

NO NO, it’s too early to make a conclusion. Where there is a will there is a way. That’s exactly who I am!

Last Saturday, I got my debut finally! My show time!! Hooray!!

That court is situated in central London, named science centre gym. This place is a little far from the Hall of residence. Unluckily, it took me one hour and a half on the underground due to the tempory closure on Baker Street.

As long as I can play today, I don’t care how far will I travel today, saying in my mind. Interestingly, this court is quite close to the home pitch of Arsenal. After I came out of the tube stop, I realized there was a booth selling scarves of Arsenal. Maybe next time I can drop by Arsenal’s home court. Can’t wait. Haha.

Let’s get into the inside of our destination and have a look. Long time no see, a formal badminton court, my dear!

I played two hours from 12 pm to 2 pm and met a lot of new friends. Beth, 25 years old from Indonesia is good at playing women double. We played together and won three competitions. When I asked her the reason why British don’t like badminton so much, she joked because Asian players like Chinese and Indonesia occupied most of the championships. What an easy-going girl.

Meanwhile, I met Mike from Serbia and tried mixed double with him. He is a beginner in badminton. I taught him a little about how to control his forehand and backhand and the basic techniques of serve.  Our cooperation didn’t go well, but I promised him to meet him next time.WechatIMG54 1.jpeg

After two hours, I was exhausted. It was my first time to play badminton in London. Because of badminton, I make friends wherever I go even though badminton lovers in  London are fewer than I thought. British people give priority to their beloved football may be part of the reason.

I did have fun today but happy time is always short.

See you guys next time!
